Are there plans to offer reporting so admins can extract/report all mobile data (device type, last login date/time, etc) for all of their users in one view. Clicking on User Account pages individually for thousands of users to get this information isn't practical.
It looks like these new settings are already in place in my control panel. After using GoogleSync on my iPhone, my ability to set AutoLock to 'Never' disappeared, I am now restricted to a maximum of 5 minutes with the screen on. I see the new options give me the ability to increase this up to 30 minutes, but no option to leave 'Never' in the list on the device.
This is an ActiveSync policy setting which I also ran into on my Hosted Exchange service. Fortunately, with Hosted Exchange I could change this setting and my 'Never' option returned to the AutoLock settings choices. GoogleApps seems to create blanket settings that users must work within when it comes to ActiveSync, whereas a true Hosted Exchange service gives you full control.
If someone from the mobile services department would contact me directly, I could provide you with the setting that removes this restriction in ActiveSync.
Does Google use an third party SMS service provider or their own? Would you be willing to share who that service provider is or is there away another company can make use of the Google SMS servce?
How does an employee that has intermingled personal and business e-mail, contacts and calendar ensure that their personal info doesn't get wiped by the administrator?
Great new addition!
ReplyDeleteAny eta on Google Android support?
ReplyDeleteThis is great, but I'm curious about the how it works.
ReplyDeleteSo the number one reason I have for buying MobileMe is gone? Remote wipe is only $50 per year through Google. Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteDear Bryan,
ReplyDeleteI love what google does and I pushed really hard for it to implemented at our business.
We use exchange server here and it continually crashes, needs reboots etc.
We trialled google apps premier and it was excellent, except our windows mobile device syncing was very random.
Our business would switch back in a heart beat once syncing with windows mobile devices is reliable.
Hoping to come back to google apps soon,
Roni
This is really great stuff !!!

ReplyDeleteDoes this feature already exist for Android devices? If not, why aren't android devices included?????
ReplyDeleteYou guys just keep knocking away the reasons to use a Hosted Exchange service ;)
